Frequently asked questions

1. Will Soviet lenses fit my camera?

In most cases, yes. You just need the right adapter, and you can use vintage glass on almost any modern camera.

2. Is it hard to use vintage lenses if I’ve only shot with autofocus before?

Not as hard as it seems. Manual focusing quickly becomes second nature, and you gain full creative control over your shots. Many photographers and filmmakers find it reveals their style better than autofocus.

3. How do I choose a lens for my needs (portrait, landscape, video)?

The main thing is to know what kind of image “character” you want: soft for portraits, high-contrast for landscapes, or with beautiful bokeh for cinematic shots. In our guide, we explain lens selection in detail by genre and purpose:

4. What does “fully serviced” mean?

Every lens undergoes a complete CLA service by an experienced technician: cleaning of optics and mechanics, grease replacement, and adjustment of focus and aperture. You receive a lens that’s ready to work from day one.

5. Is there any fungus, dust, or defects? What about scuffs and scratches?

We guarantee there are no defects that affect image quality.
You may notice small signs of age on the body or minor scratches on the lens surface (remember, this is vintage glass), but these are guaranteed not to affect the final image.

6. Can I return or exchange the item if it doesn’t suit me?

Yes. We have a return policy so you can buy with confidence. If the lens doesn’t match its description or you simply change your mind, just contact us and we’ll arrange a return according to our policy.

7. How quickly will I receive my order?

We ship within 1–2 business days after payment. Delivery within the USA usually takes 2–5 days, and international shipping starts from 7 days depending on the region. You can read more in the “Shipping” section.

8. How are your lenses different from those sold on eBay or in classifieds?

We only sell serviced, tested, and ready-to-use lenses. You know exactly what you’re getting, and you’re protected by our money-back guarantee.

9. Do vintage lenses keep their sharpness and quality when used on a modern camera?

Yes, as long as you use the correct adapter. These lenses work beautifully even with high-resolution cameras, all while preserving their unique character.

10. How should I care for my lens after purchase?

Store it in a dry place, avoid sudden temperature changes, and periodically clean the glass with a soft microfiber cloth.

11. How is a cine-modified lens different from a regular lens?

A cine modification makes a vintage lens more convenient for professional video work:

  • Adds focus and aperture gear rings for use with a follow focus system
  • Converts the aperture to de-clicked (smooth, without fixed stops)
  • Installs a modern mount for your camera if needed

This doesn’t change the optical character of the lens but greatly improves usability on set.

12. Does the lens cover Full Frame / Super35 / MFT?

Each lens listing specifies the format it covers. Most Soviet lenses in our catalog are designed for Full Frame, so they also work on Super35 and MFT cameras via an adapter. If a specific model has image circle limitations, we clearly note this in its description.
